Alaska Addiction Rehabilitation Services, Inc.
Will provide direct clinical services to clients in the residential treatment program. Will perform assessment interviews (intake). Will collect and record client data. Will provide direction and guidance through individual counseling sessions. Will maintain client charts. Will develop individualized treatment plans. Will guide clients through the treatment process. Will facilitate educational and process groups for clients. Will adhere to Federal and State confidentiality laws. Will provide case management for clients through the transitional phase of treatment. Will provide leadership in Aftercare planning. Will assist clients in the discharge-referral process. Will be responsible for client chart compliance. Will supervise clients in social, recreational, cultural and community related activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical treatment functions for clients in individual and groups sessions using the client’s treatment plan as a guide.
- Maintain client records in timely, orderly manner according to the guidelines established in the agency treatment manual.
- Adhere to State and Federal confidentiality laws.
- Perform intake assessment interviews using the bio-psychosocial assessment documents, the DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria and the ASAM-PC-2.
- Guide clients in the preparation of an individualized treatment plan.
- Prepare for and participates in bi-monthly client case reviews.
- Provide case management to clients.
- Facilitate psycho-educational and process groups.
- Assist clients with continuing care planning and referrals.
- Supervise client, in social / recreational activities,
- Attend and participate in the weekly AARS Meeting.
- Provide client transportation using the agency vehicle.
- Provide documents and data for agency grant compliance reports.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Enter data into the AKAIMS data program.
- Read all policies and procedures manuals of AARS and pass exam on manuals.
- Learn and maintain confidentiality of client information within Federal and State guidelines.
- Participate in evaluation of job performance.
- Complete RELIAS training course and other training as assigned.
- Help clients understand and employ recovery strategies.
- Maintain project logs, reports and records in appropriate files and database(s).
- Participate in staff training and conduct training sessions as requested.
- Prepare and submit timely reports and records to the Clinical Manager.
- Prepare and submit incidents reports as needed both positive and negative to Clinical Manager and other staff.
- Participate in staff meetings or review minutes within 48 hours of missed meeting.
- Participate in staff training and provided leadership for training as requested.
- Participate in probationary and annual staff evaluations.
- Review and become familiar with the Personnel Manual for AARS.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be certified, as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Level I.
- Must have a minimum of 4 year of experience working with individuals in recovery.
- Prefer some experience working in a residential setting.
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related field (may be substituted for a portion of the related work experience).
- Must be knowledgeable of the interaction between chemical dependency and mental illness and the treatment issues related to dual disorders.
- Is culturally sensitive and aware of the State’s cultural diversities.
- Is able to supervise and provide leadership to clients in a variety of settings.
- Is able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form.
- Is capable of maintaining client records.
- Is capable of maintaining client confidentiality as per State and Federal regulations.
- If a recovering individual is chemically free for a minimum of 2 years.
- Must have: Appropriate computer skills; Current TB test (obtainable within the first 30 days of employment); Current First Aid / CPR Cards (obtainable within the first 90 days of employment); initial COVID vaccinations, provide vaccination card as proof; and A valid Alaska Driver’s License, with a good driving record and insurable.
- Must be able to pass the mandated criminal background check with an allowance for a variance.
- Is a positive role model.
- Has the ability to enforce client rules.
- Preferred: Familiar with Alaska Native culture; resident of Mat-Su Valley; experience working with handicapped; some experience with social service agencies; good team worker who can relate well with fellow workers; able to relate to alcoholics, drug abusers, and public inebriates, and familiar with AA / NA treatment philosophies.
- Must be a person who is free from allergies, which would interfere with daily AARS life.
- May be a resident of the Mat-Su Borough and a person with knowledge of Alaska Native Cultures, both of which are preferred.

Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary: Up to $41 per hour (position also includes a monthly gas allowance, health insurance stipend, and COVID vaccination bonus)
